Wondering “Why Callum?” and “Why Now?”
My name is Callum Pierce, and like many of you, I've felt the growing despair and frustration with the state of our nation. The American dream, once a beacon of hope and opportunity, now feels like a distant memory—replaced by the harsh reality of rising costs, stagnant wages, and a system that seems more intent on maintaining the status quo than improving our lives.
But I refuse to accept this as our future. My belief is simple and unwavering: every American deserves the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life, one where we are free to make choices that reflect our values and aspirations. We should not have to choose between paying for medical care and securing a safe place to live, nor should our younger generations be burdened with the fear that they will never be able to afford the life they deserve.
The daily grind has conditioned too many of us to dread the future, overwhelmed by an ever-growing list of expenses and obligations that seem to increase by the day. It’s time to implement programs and policies that make a real difference in the lives of everyday people—policies that restore hope and provide genuine opportunities for all.
I believe the root of many of our problems lies in complacency within our political system. I remember sitting in history class, reading about the incredible achievements of past generations—landing a man on the moon, upholding a democratic republic for nearly 250 years, and establishing national dominance in trade and military power. These accomplishments set the stage for programs and initiatives that spread American values across the globe.
But what have we accomplished in the past decade? In the past twenty years? The last constitutional amendment was ratified in 1992, and before that, in 1971. That means it's been over fifty years since we last proposed significant change through our founding document. As a child, I was told that America was the world's leader in democracy and progress, yet we are falling behind the very standards that developed nations have embraced. It's time to elect leaders who can inspire the present and plan for the future—leaders who will craft legislation that protects and uplifts our citizens, creating safety nets for those who need them most and fostering a sense of hope in our collective future.
I am committed to enacting the key policies and laws that I, along with many others, believe will lead to a better, more enjoyable life for all Americans. My vision for the future includes:
Affordable Housing: Implementing tenant-based models inspired by successful systems around the world, ensuring that everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.
Healthcare Access: Expanding healthcare coverage to include all necessary treatments, making it affordable and accessible so that no one has to choose between their health and financial stability.
Fair Wages: Raising the minimum wage to a livable level, ensuring that full-time workers can support themselves and their families with dignity.
Tax Reform: Creating a fair tax system that eases the burden on the middle and working classes while ensuring the wealthy contribute their fair share to our society.
Government Transparency: Restoring trust in our government by increasing transparency and accountability, ensuring that politicians serve the people—not special interests.
I believe in the immense potential of our country and its people. Together, we can restore the American dream and make it accessible and achievable for all generations to come. This is not just my mission—it’s ours. Join me in this fight. Together, we can make a difference and build a brighter, more equitable future for everyone.
